On the 1st of January 2022, Alice Bryne (28-year-old Care Worker) was last seen leaving a friend's flat in Marlborough Street, Portobello, Edinburgh, between 08:00 and 10:00. She had met with her parents to celebrate Hogmanay (New Year's Eve) but then left to attend a beach party to bring in the New Year.
CCTV footage of Alice’s last known movements shows her wearing a black top, black jeans ripped at the knees, and white trainers. Chief Insp Dougal said: "We are aware that the beach and promenade area was busy on New Year's morning so we appeal to anyone to review photos and call if they have any information that may assist in tracing Alice."
Police have conducted multiple searches including a largescale search for Alice with specialist teams drafted in, including air, marine, and dog units. Alice's twin brother spoke to The Sun Newspaper and revealed that 'going missing' was completely out of character and that her phone was broken and in the house - so they have no way of contacting her. He begged her to make contact.
Alice has a distinctive tattoo on her forearm, an image of which has been released in the hopes of helping to identify her.
In a statement made by Alice's family, it's been revealed that there is evidence to suggest that Alice went into the water alone that morning and did not come out. There is also no evidence that there was any criminality. Sadly, this suggests that there may be evidence that Alice committed suicide.
