At 08:17 on the 24th of January, 2021, Police were called to Ellen Street following reports about a woman's welfare. Police would find the deceased body of Tiparat Argatu (43). A post-mortem examination confirmed that she died from neck and head injuries. Tiparat was a Thai national who moved to London in September 2020 to be with her husband.
The Police made an arrest that same day, but they are also keen to talk to a man that had been walking naked in the Whitechapel area between 04:00 and 09:00 that day.
The Investigation
David Cheres (19), thought to have been known to Tiparat but not related to her, was arrested near to the scene on the 24th and has since been charged with the murder. He is due to appear at the Old Bailey on the 16th of April 2021.
